Vol. 1, Post #19a The Phone
Help a sister out and vote. My ongoing sex tips for girls* (*girls who are holding on to mid-life by a thread). A modern love odyssey for Young Olds, AKA, people with readers.
In my first post here, I described myself as “a combo of Cynthia Heimel and The Bubbe from the film Crossing Delancey.” If you’re not familiar with Cynthia’s now legendary 1983 collection of essays, take the time and dive in. She was a humorist with big balls and an even bigger brain and I miss her every day (she died at 70 in 2018 — and as we all know, 70 doesn’t seem old any more). Her iconic tome “Sex Tips For Girls” is part of my tagline here.
This week I’m going to do two things — talk about the phone, talk about talking on the phone, talk about texting on the phone, talk about sexting on the phone, blah blah blah. You get the idea. See Cynthia’s book cover — no one can seem to drop the fucking phone and in today’s dating scene, I’m considering how I like it best (given the fact that I’d love to have a corded, tomato-red dial version, if I had a landline). The other thing I’m going to do is publish on Friday, because before I spill it, I need your input.
I know what I prefer but I need to hear from you, so I would be IN HEAVEN if you’d take 10 seconds and let me know how you like it. And then check back here on Friday when I tell all. xoxoxo Abbe
I love texting for the excitement of knowing you're on someone's mind and vice versa, without too much effort. That smile you feel in your heart and the dopamine kicka in. Talking is even better, and face to face is key. It's where all the chemistry and spark and pheromones come into play. It's how you know it's real. Phone "friends" could be fun but it falls short, kinda like what I imagine blue balls feels like!
Love texting but also like giving and receiving audio messages!
